Reduce Risk of Outages with
Unified Infrastructure Monitoring

Modius can help you simplify your data center management

We unify monitoring and alarming from ALL of your equipment into a single pane of glass -- including all power, cooling, and environmental sensor equipment. Then we prioritize the critical alarms and escalate them to right people for when it matters most.

  • Unify
  • Manage
  • Integrate

OK, So Where’s the Fire?

Do you have multiple alarms from multiple systems? Are you flooded with low-level alarms that aren’t important? When something serious happens, can you quickly identify the root cause?

Take the Guesswork out of Alarm Management

Modius helps take the guesswork out of infrastructure monitoring by helping you prioritize only the alarms that you need to focus on to maintain the critical equipment in your data center. Then Modius intelligently separates critical alarms from the alarms you can afford to get to later.

One Tool for All Mission Critical Monitoring

Modius creates a completely unified system for capturing critical alarms by combining three principal sources:

  • Native monitoring all infrastructure equipment, including all power & cooling equipment
  • Native monitoring of selected IT equipment in the racks (via MIBs)
  • Integrations to 3rd party systems to aggregate additional alarms, including BMS or environmental monitoring systems

Managing Alarms

Using its revolutionary OpenData® middleware technology, Modius aggregates device performance data from across multiple device classes, including power, cooling, and environmental sensors, all within a single real-time view of the device status.

Getting alarms to the right people or systems within an organization is often a challenge. You need to route alarms to the data center operations teams, while intelligently routing the subset of critical alarms to IT.

Modius federates alarms to other tools

Modius generates intelligent alarms based on aggregated data. Rather than using simple thresholds, Modius allows users to pre-set the specific conditions that will trigger an alarm, which may involve a combination of points arranged in specific calculation before the alarm is generated. Once generated, Modius uses a 5-stage escalation process to ensure the alarm reaches the right person.

Centralized Alarms for Easier Root Cause Analysis

Today, many data center operators are struggling to centralize availability and performance data from site infrastructure devices into a “single console.” Typically, one management system will monitor the power equipment, another one will monitor the cooling equipment, and yet another will collect environmental data from sensors.

Without a centralized repository for all this data, intelligent alarming and correlation is difficult to achieve and mean-time-to-repair is inefficient because you need to look at multiple systems to obtain a single view of site infrastructure status.

In the case of a critical failure, many different systems generate so many alarms that root cause analysis becomes extremely difficult and operators are forced to sort through an 'event storm' of a multitude of alarms.

Modius Integrates with other Systems

Modius OpenData provides the integrations that allow you to push selected infrastructure-related alarms that meet a particular severity level to your systems management tools, or to send them directly by email to IT staff. We currently support integrations to variety of systems management tools on the IT side, including:

  • GroundWorks
  • Nimsoft
  • IBM Tivoli
  • HP OpenView
  • CA Unicenter

Works Across the Enterprise

Modius OpenData captures data from across the enterprise, allowing you to integrate alarms from a variety of geographically distributed sources:

  • Data centers
  • Call enters
  • Server closets

OpenData collects and centralizes performance data from all these locations into a single pane of glass, even if these sites are separated by firewalls. OpenData is designed to aggregate device performance data from multiple locations by standardizing it, encrypting it, and centralizing it at a single server instance to provide a real-time and continuous view of performance at every site from a single console.
