Optimize Data Center Cooling & Air Resources with Dynamic Environmental Management

Modius automates air and cooling optimization in all of your mission critical sites by capturing comprehensive performance data, and then feeding air and cooling intelligence directly to BMS and other control systems.

  • Unify
  • Manage
  • Integrate

Is Your Data Center Having Hot Flashes?

Are imbalances in cooling airflow distribution preventing specific areas in your data center from receiving adequate cooling? Or, alternatively, are areas in your data center getting too much cooling.

Optimize Resources to Save Energy & Money

By improving airflow, Sybase was able to better manage its environmental conditions to reduce the total work required by the chiller. This optimization allowed Sybase to raise the temperature setpoints on its chilled water loop, thereby realizing an energy savings of $11,500 annually on the chiller alone.

Modius Makes Unifying Temperature and Humidity Measurements Easy

Optimizing air and cooling sources to eliminate dangerous "hot spots" or expensive “cold spots” is easier than you think.

The Modius approach to environmental monitoring is to leverage as many sources of sensor data as possible. Modius OpenData can use wired or wireless external senors in combination with existing instrumentation in IT devices and infrastructure equipment.

We continually capture data so you can analyze how temperature and humidity cycle up and down in response to changing conditions. Real-time dashboards make is easy to examine trends as they vary throughout the day and across days.

Modius Solution Overview

Modius OpenData for Dynamic Environmental Management offers a new approach to the automation of cooling resources. Modius captures broad-based environmental data and then synthesizes the right information to be integrated into existing control solutions:

Many data centers have more cooling capacity than they need. But poor airflow means that cold air is not getting to the right places. Consequently, some racks are over-cooled while others are barely kept within their desirable temperature limits.

That’s why Modius collects measurements from a broad variety of devices and subsystems to capture a holistic view of cooling system performance, including data from environmental sensors, infrastructure equipment (CRACs, chillers, etc.) and onboard sensors on IT devices.

Modius Makes Integration to the BMS Easy

Modius collects measurements from a broad variety of devices and subsystems to capture a holistic view of cooling system performance, including CRACs, chillers, environmental sensors, and other devices. Real-time dashboards allow you to understand detailed fluctuations as they vary throughout the day and across days.

Modius then synthesizes this broad data set into a set of reduced performance metrics that can be used to feed intelligence directly to the BMS or other control system. Our real-time metrics sysnthesized from a broad set of instrumentation points provides better air and cooling intelligence than can be traditionally captured or managed by a BMS on its own.

We currently support integrations to variety of building management systems, including:

  • ALC
  • JCI
  • Honeywell
  • Seimens
  • Any other system that supports either Modbus or BACnet
