Modius First to Release Low-Cost Monitoring Product that Manages Alarms Across All Data Center Infrastructure Equipment

Modius OpenData® Standard Edition provides downloadable alarm management solution for data center power & cooling equipment and IT devices for only $1,995 per user

San Francisco – December 15, 2010 - Modius Inc, a leading provider of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software, today announced the release of OpenData® Standard Edition , which offers unified monitoring and alarm management for all critical infrastructure equipment in the data center at very low cost to all enterprises.

The Modius OpenData Standard Edition is available to data center managers in enterprises, co-location centers, and other critical facilities for only $1,995 per year per user. Standard Edition allows data center managers to capture alarms from an unlimited number of devices and then direct them to a single management system. This unified approach simplifies data center management and dramatically lowers the risk of data center failure by eliminating the confusion of multiple unconnected alarm solutions. In addition to centralized alarm management, OpenData Standard Edition also allows operators to store and graph historical performance data, and then export it using standard data extraction tools.

For enterprise customers looking for more advanced data analytic capabilities, Modius also offers OpenData Enterprise Edition, which provides advanced analysis and visualization of performance data, as well as data integration across multiple sites. Standard Edition is fully upgradeable to Enterprise Edition, allowing customers to start with a limited deployment at low cost and then expand their coverage and functionality over time.

“Throughout the last year, we heard data center managers discuss the need to replace legacy systems and unify alarming in the data center with a product that was both easy to implement and available at low cost,” said Donald Klein, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Modius. “Based on the input we received, our engineers developed a ‘light version’ of the Modius alarm management engine, which allows users to capture alarms across the entire power and cooling chains, regardless of device type or manufacturer.”

The core of the Standard Edition offering is the Modius OpenData alarm unification engine, which works across all the major communication protocols in the data center, including Modbus, BACnet and SNMP. This protocol translation capability allows Modius OpenData to integrate with all environmental sensors, power and cooling equipment, and rack-level power strips and PDUs. By unifying alarms from this equipment, Modius OpenData captures a unified view of the health and performance of the data center, thereby simplifying the day-to-day management tasks of data center operators.

The Modius OpenData Standard Edition includes:

  • Web-based User Interface (Internet Explorer)
  • Unified Alarm Engine (Tree & Tabular Alarm Views
  • Email/TXT Configurable Notification
  • User-installed Graphical Navigation Screens (for visualizing alarms
  • Preconfigured Device Template Library
  • Device Template Editor
  • Alarm Threshold & Computed Points Editor

Standard Edition is available on an Annual Term-basis (subscription) per licensed user, and can be downloaded from the Modius website at http://www.modius.com/product.
