Modius OpenData at Sybase Inc.
Overview
Modius has conducted a high-impact case study examining how the Modius OpenData solution allowed its long-time customer, Sybase Inc., to monitor, measure and correct imbalances in cooling airflow distribution while simultaneously improving resiliency and lowering risk.
In conjunction with the Uptime Institute, Modius has published this short overview of the Sybase success story here:

Challenge
Sybase faced significant airflow challenges common to many data centers such as high chiller energy consumption and dangerous "hot spots" that prevented IT infrastructure from operating at the optimal temperature. Yet, the data center operators did not have access to the granular data required to inform their decision-making process so as to safely address these issues.
Approach
Sybase turned to the Modius system to monitor, measure and correct imbalances in cooling airflow distribution that were preventing specific area in the data center from receiving adequate cooling. The solution allowed data center personnel to easily collect detailed operational-level data across multiple sub-systems, including computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, environmental sensors, and the chiller unit.
Outcome
The broad data capture provided by Modius allowed Sybase to generate a holistic picture of their data center operations. This data enabled Sybase personnel to not only adjust the devices with confidence because they were tracking day-to-day and hour-to-hour trends, but also better coordinate across the sub-systems to achieve maximum efficiency. Sybase data center operators were able to reduce the chiller's energy consumption by approximately 26 percent, saving Sybase an estimated $50,000 to $90,000 in annual energy costs, depending on the price of electricity.
