Modius to Demonstrate New Technology Alliance Program (TAP) With Suite of Data Center Environmental Intelligence and Resource Management Tools at Uptime Institute Symposium 2010
Demonstration will highlight how members of Modius’s TAP enable customers to lower data center energy and operational costs by aggregating real-time environmental intelligence
New York – May17, 2010 — Facilities and IT managers all over the world have a common problem: how to aggregate real-time monitoring and measurement intelligence with disparate management platforms throughout the data center. Without centralized power and environmental intelligence, data center operators miss the opportunity to achieve the full energy savings available to them.
To help members of the data center community learn how to reduce data center energy consumption and operational costs, Modius Inc., the industry leader in providing Enterprise-class distributed real-time monitoring and management of data center resources, will demonstrate a comprehensive set of customer resource management solutions during the Uptime Institute Symposium 2010 at the New York Hilton, May 17-19, 2010.
For the first time in the industry, Modius and many of the members of its Technology Alliance Program (TAP) will demonstrate collecting real-time metric data from a wide variety of wired and wireless sources, normalizing and transforming these metrics into usable KPIs, and then presenting the resulting environmental intelligence in real-time.
Key Technology Alliance Program members taking part in this demonstration include:
- Asset-Point, the New York-based visual asset management, data center designer and capacity planning solution provider
- RF Code, the Austin, TX-based supplier of active RFID-based asset management location and environmental sensors
- Server Technology, the Reno, NV-based supplier of highly intelligent rack-based power distribution equipment
“By demonstrating these technologies working together, and delivering value to customers that were previously unavailable, it has become clear that the federation of knowledge from a variety of sources and locations has the opportunity to change the way IT and facilities organizations think, react and plan,” said Craig Compiano, CEO of Modius, “Customers have previously never been able to get their hands on the wealth of performance metric information now available using the Modius OpenData solution in concert with the physical infrastructure providers such as these members of our TAP program. We see no end to the creative ways in which this data will be leveraged to drive cost efficiencies across the data center - power and cooling alike.”
Last month, Modius released major enhancements to its OpenData platform and opened membership in its new TAP. OpenData 3.2 allows IT and facilities managers to share and aggregate real-time monitoring data with disparate management platforms throughout the enterprise. A key new feature of the OpenData 3.2 release is a best-of-breed web services interface that enables performance and status data to be available via an easy-to-use, flexible and powerful HTTP/HTTPS-based interface. This interface gives instant access to OpenData’s repository of real-time intelligence for all critical devices in the IT and facilities ecosystem, including all power and cooling. With the introduction of this new interface, any member of the Modius TAP can assure seamless interoperability of their physical infrastructure components with the ability to deliver leveraged value to customers. TAP members receive certification that their solutions can be integrated with OpenData through a set of simple assurance steps performed within Modius TAP Labs.
