Management Team

Craig Compiano – President, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Compiano is an expert business manager and entrepreneur with extensive executive management experience and a track record for developing successful businesses. Mr. Compiano founded Modius in 2004 to develop and deploy “next generation” management systems for data centers and other mission-critical facilities. He brings to the Company 30 years experience in Business and Systems Development, Operations, and Finance. His prior accomplishments in software development for large commercial and public sector clients during his tenure at Andersen Consulting, led to his current concentration on operational business intelligence systems development for data centers. Previously as Co-Founder and Vice President of Paymap, Inc., Mr. Compiano prototyped, developed, and deployed an outsourced Electronic Payment System, that has been widely adopted by the banking industry. He was awarded a patent for this technology. He successfully co-directed Paymap from its inception to an ultimate corporate sale in excess of $100 million. Mr. Compiano has a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an MBA Finance from UC Berkeley.

Scott Brown – Vice President of Engineering
Scott Brown is an accomplished software executive and technologist with over 25 years of engineering and enterprise software experience. He has a broad product/technology background that includes data warehousing, business intelligence, telecommunications applications, networking, and distributed storage systems. His functional background includes product development, strategy, product management, customer support, professional services and IT. Previously, Brown was VP of Products and Services at DecisionPoint Software where he built a high performance product team known for on-time releases, reinvigorated service and support and significantly strengthened the depth and breadth of the product offering. Prior to DecisionPoint, Brown held senior engineering and strategic planning positions at Veritas - where he was responsible for four strategic product lines, Novell - where he was the driving force behind the design and development of Novell Storage Services and at Tandem Computers - where he managed the telecommunications applications group including engineering and customer service. Mr. Brown also led significant engineering teams for a number of start-up companies including Telespree, Andromedia and Computer Curriculum Corporation. Mr. Brown received an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS in Computer Science from Utah State University. Brown is a contributing author in two books published by MIT Press: Technology 2001: The Future of Computing and Communications (1991) and The Future of Software (1995).

Donald Klein – Vice President, Marketing & Business Development
Donald Klein is currently Vice President for Marketing and Business Development at Modius, Inc. In this role, Donald oversees all marketing and strategic development activities at the firm. Prior to Modius, Donald held positions as VP Strategic Alliances and VP Product Management at Tideway Systems, an innovative enterprise software business focused on application management and backed by APAX Partners. Donald also worked as a technology analyst at Generation Investment Management (GIM), one of the world’s largest funds specializing in clean-tech and sustainability investments. Other software development experience includes Ingenta, the online publishing company that IPO’d on the London Stock Exchange in 2001, where he was responsible for the company’s software-as-a-service product line and spearheaded two acquisitions. Donald holds an MBA from London Business School, and degrees from Stanford University and Colby College.

Chris Palombi – Vice President, Sales
Chris Palombi is a sales and delivery leader who has specialized in complex technology product and service solutions to major corporations for over 20 years. His focus on client project success and value delivery was formalized with Andersen Consulting, as Business Development leader, later Partner, in one of the firm's most successful and fastest growth business units worldwide. His prior roles in Large Account Sales Management include: Oracle; leading regional Bell operating company development strategies; establishing Sequoia Systems (pre-IPO) as the Bellcore fault-tolerant Unix Standard, then driving its major OEM collaboration with HP; Tandem Computers, establishing many of its largest early accounts-helping to lay the foundation of the technology, propose and deliver significant solutions, such as Wells Fargo's ATM network, Chevron's POS and SBC's Service Order systems-then nurturing many of those relationships into strategic partnerships of long-term value. Chris' abiding passion for the power of technology was originally kindled as a USN Division Officer on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43), where he was responsible for the Divisional Project and Program Office management of that ship's 22-month overhaul at Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard.

Michael Farrell – Director of Channel Sales
Mr. Farrell has over twenty years of global enterprise sales and business development experience, managing large Global and National Accounts, strategic alliances, OEM sales, channel sales, carrier sales, managed services, professional services sales, strategic outsourcing sales, that emphasizes a solutions sales methodology. He has worked for IBM, and managed three successful alliances with IBM during his career. Mike has excellent business acumen and a high degree of technical aptitude, as well as excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. He has managed Global Sales teams selling managed services, IT outsourcing, systems integration, and software solutions to Global and Fortune 2000 clients at the CXO level.

Earl Sacerdoti – Chief Technology Officer
Earl Sacerdoti is an entrepreneur, management consultant, executive coach and investor focused on early-stage software ventures. He has more than 30 years of experience in general management and managing research, development and engineering. Dr. Sacerdoti was a founder of Symantec, and has spent 18 years operating The Copernican Group, an affiliation of management and technical consultants focused on making applications of advanced software technology practical. As a founder, board member, executive or early investor, he has worked intimately with numerous start-ups, most recently collaborating on business plans, setting development plans, recruiting staff, conceiving initial products, managing product development and product marketing, negotiating distribution agreements, and mentoring executive staff. Dr. Sacerdoti is the inventor of three issued and several pending patents, and the author of one book and more than 20 papers and articles on a wide range of advanced software topics.
